Arden Primary School

Every Child, Every Opportunity

Our Wider Curriculum

Our Wider Curriculum

We strive to ensure that the children at Arden Primary School have an enriched and diverse curriculum. This is why special days and topics covered in the wider curriculum are so vital to their learning and engagement in class. The wider curriculum also forms a part of ensuring that our school values of respect, collaboration, resilience, empathy, reflection and aspiration are also instilled consistently throughout the year.

Aspiration, Community and Enquiry are our school drivers which give our children the opportunity to flourish no matter their background. Each driver is therefore also celebrated at a point in the academic year. By allowing the children the opportunity to learn about each of the special days and topics within our wider curriculum it further consolidates our school vision of ‘Every Child, Every Opportunity’.

Each year group is given specific events to study closely and are provided with resources and also the experience of working with a visitor with knowledge of that event. Our wider curriculum is also part of the weekly assemblies. The fantastic work which the children produce is then added to each year groups OWL book on display in the corridors and examples of work can also be found on the newsletter and Twitter.

We are so thankful for the support we receive from parents/guardians and the wider school community with their involvement, participation and support on these days.
