Every Child, Every Opportunity
We are pleased to be starting the Health for Life programme in school. The programme is delivered by Services for Education and funded by Mondelēz International, and it supports schools in helping children and families develop healthy, active lifestyles. Through this initiative, we will be exploring topics such as healthy eating, growing food, cooking and the importance of regular physical activity.
As part of our Health for Life journey, we will also be launching our new Eco Council. Each class will select an Eco Leader who will represent their classmates and share ideas about healthy living, growing food and being active. These pupils will help us shape projects and learning opportunities across the school, ensuring that children’s voices and interests play an important role in developing our curriculum. Our Eco Leaders will also have opportunities to represent the school at events and workshops with partner organisations, including the Cookathon and the BBC Gardener’s World Live Wheelbarrow Competition.
Alongside this, our school newsletters will begin to include simple, affordable recipe ideas for families to try at home. These recipes are designed to be easy to prepare, budget-friendly and supportive of healthy eating habits. We hope they will provide a fun way for families to cook together while reinforcing the healthy lifestyle messages children are learning in school.
We would also love to celebrate the healthy activities our children are enjoying beyond the school day. If your child or family take part in activities such as sport, outdoor play, growing food or cooking together, we would be delighted if you could share a photograph with us. These will help us showcase the wonderful ways our pupils are leading healthy, active lives and may be featured in future school newsletters.
Photographs can be sent to our new email address: newsletters@arden.bham.sch.uk
When sending a photo, please include:
